The high beach season has arrived in Malaysia. Russians are more active than last year in booking tours on Langkawi Island, choosing accommodation there mainly in expensive hotels. The correspondent of Vestnik ATOR, together with PAX travel agents, personally visited the best island hotels and compiled a short hotel guide with photos and prices.
According to PAKS sales data, Langkawi Island remains the most popular resort in Malaysia among Russians. Hoteliers of the island state an increase in the number of tourists from Russia in 2024.
As part of the recently completed study tour of Malaysia, organized by the PAX tour operator for its retail partners, we studied high-quality Langkawi hotels and selected the most popular among Russians in the review.

MAIN FEATURES OF LANGKAWI ISLAND HOTELS: A TOURIST’S NOTE
- Langkawi hotels provide a deposit. The minimum is 100 ringgit per room per day (approximately 2.3 thousand rubles). You can negotiate with many hotels and not pay a deposit. But then for various additional services (if necessary) on the territory of the hotel you will need to pay immediately on the spot. If there is a deposit, then all this will be deducted from it
- In Malaysia, you have to pay a tourist tax. The rate is 10 ringgit per day per room. On the islands of Langkawi and Borneo, where there are protected areas, the tax has been increased to 15 ringgit per day per room
- in hotels in Langkawi and in general in Malaysia, it is impossible to buy local currency. In general, there is no such option as currency exchange in hotels.
- in Langkawi hotels there are few fruits on the buffet
- in Langkawi hotels there are no Russian-speaking staff, with rare exceptions (for example, The Ritz-Carlton, The Datai)
- the mini-bar in many Langkawi hotels is paid (necessary immediately clarify this point with the agent when booking)
- the type of food in hotels is mainly breakfast, or breakfast + dinner, and the all-inclusive system is not so common
- in Langkawi hotels, the price tag for various additional services is not budget-friendly, especially when compared, for example, with neighboring Thailand
- UnionPay cards of Russian non-sanctioned banks are accepted in almost all hotels, but there are exceptions. For example, the PARKROYAL Langkawi Hotel
- there is no active animation in Langkawi hotels, especially when compared with Turkey. Only live music in the evenings at the bar or restaurant
- Langkawi has about twenty more or less large beaches. It is better to book a hotel near them. One of the most popular is Pantai Chenang. The best beaches are located in the northern and northeastern parts of the island. These are, for example, Kok Beach, stretching along Telaga Bay, Pantai Pasir Hitam, Tengorak, Recreation Kastham, Tanjung Ru. PARKROYAL LANGKAWI RESORT 5*HOTEL
A decent new hotel on the picturesque long beach of Pantai Tenga. It has been hosting guests since 2023. The territory of the hotel is small.

Based on personal observations, the whole family is comfortable in the hotel. Children have fun in the kids’ club and on the small water slides located opposite the view pool with a water bar.

There are several pools in the hotel – one by the sea, the other on the third floor of the main building. There are 301 rooms in the main building. The design of the rooms is modern, sophisticated, in bright colors.
