At the end of January, one of the most interesting holidays of our time will come – the Chinese New Year. It is brightly and beautifully celebrated in many countries, and it is becoming more popular in Russia every year. But there is simply no better place to celebrate the holiday than China. Chinese New Year Tours
In the Chinese tradition, the Chinese New Year, or as it is also called in the country – the Lunar New Year, is celebrated for 15 days. In 2025, it will come on January 29th. Red is the most important color of the Chinese New Year. The most famous symbols and decorations are Chinese paper lanterns, New Year’s carved patterns, splint paintings, calligraphic plaques with good wishes and poetic verses. And for luck, they hang images of the corresponding hieroglyph. Streets, houses, restaurants and various buildings are decorated with New Year symbols, immersing in a special festive atmosphere.
Of course, the New Year’s table is special. It must contain dumplings stuffed with meat, fish, vegetables, cooked in a variety of ways – they are boiled, steamed, fried and baked. A Chinese folk sign says that the more dumplings you eat for the holiday, the more money you will have in the new year. There are also other dishes – Chinese rolls, rice pies, steamed fish, chicken in ginger-soy sauce and round fruits, usually tangerines and oranges. And for sweets – rice balls.
During the New Year celebrations, many different events, shows and performances take place, fireworks are launched. Huge figures of the country’s beloved lions and dragons with dancers inside are walking through the streets. The best performers who have been preparing for New Year’s performances for a long time participate in special lion and dragon dances. The lighting of candles placed inside the frame of the figures looks especially beautiful.
